We are your innkeepers Roger and Cecelia. Our previous corporate business lives have allowed us to travel the world for the last 30 years. Those travels have allowed us the opportunity to select from our best experiences and favorite amenities to build memorable stays for our guests. Combined with our love of cooking and entertaining guests, our Bed and Breakfast is a natural extension to who we are.
In addition to operating the Blue Door, we have many outside interests that are reflected in our guest rooms and activities. The Orchid that you will find in your room is from Cecelia’s collection. She hopes you enjoy their beauty as much as we do. Cecelia also is a Registered Yoga Instructor and Personal Fitness Trainer; please ask her for a private or group class to enhance your stay. From time to time Yoga Weekends are offered; let us know if you may be interested in attending one - Click Here to be put on our mailing list.
Roger started his working life in the hospitality industry prior to entering the corporate world and has found his place back here with a wealth of traveling experience.
He also has a great love for sailing. There is always a story or a possible sail in store during your visit. The fountain you will find in your room is a unique creation that brings Roger’s love of the water to every place in and around the building. And, not by chance, there is a piece artwork in every room of the house capturing a glimpse of a boat.
You will be sure to meet Megan, our pure bred Bengal cat, during your visit to the Blue Door. She love to meet guests in our common areas, with your permission of course. Megan is world renown for her excellent writing skills and loves corresponding with pen pals, translated and scribed by Cecelia. She is likely the friendliest cat you will ever meet and she is hypoallergenic to boot. Bengal’s are known for their pelt coat and limited dander making them the ideal pet for people normally allergic to cats, as Cecelia is. To read more about Bengal cats you can click here.
There may be a chance when you call or stay with us that you will also meet Michelle our Assistant Innkeeper. Michelle is originally from Trinidad and assisted in the building of a Bed and Breakfast business in Virginia upon coming to the US. She is also our licesned massage therapist. While you may see her attending to innkeeping activities around the Blue Door, she may be knocking at your door for a pre-arranged in-room massage.
About our Bed and Breakfast’s name - In our search for that very special building to serve our guests, our discussions with our real-estate agents would come back to the building that had the Blue Doors on Baltimore Street. Well, the building became our choice and the name stuck.
We have since learned that homeowners in the South would piant their doors BLUE in hopes of prosperity and good luck. We wish that for all of our guests and hope you will have an opportunity to walk through our Blue Doors and see all of what Baltimore has to offer. We will do everything possible to make your stay memorable.
